Houston Host City Committee to Launch Year-Long Radio Show with Glenn Davis and ESPN Radio 97.5

Destination 2026: Houston’s Countdown to the Cup

HOUSTONJune 2, 2025 – The FIFA World Cup 26 HoustonTM Host City Committee will debut a weekly radio show Destination 2026: Houston’s Countdown to the Cup on Wednesday, June 4, at 6 p.m. on KFNC 97.5 FM – ESPN Radio Houston. Well known soccer personality and host of the Soccer Matters radio show, Glenn Davis, will produce and host. 

“I am ready to get this show going,” commented Davis. “This show will be a way to showcase soccer and its impact, along with informing Houstonians on everything they can expect when the games begin next summer.”

The City of Houston will host seven matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

A resource to the greater Houston community

Host Glenn Davis will also bring his unique storytelling to life through interviews with past and current professional soccer players, segments on the history of the World Cup, and features on how Houston has been at the forefront of the soccer landscape through the years.

“We are excited to take on the challenge of creating a show that will be a resource to the greater Houston community,” said Houston Host City Committee President Chris Canetti. “Every week, we will have a full hour to talk through various aspects of Houston’s efforts for the World Cup, including safety and security, transportation, and our legacy projects. We also look forward to featuring our World Cup Host City Supporters, Coca-Cola Southwest, Houston Methodist, NRG, and Quanta.” 

Chris Canetti will serve as the first guest speaker on the show live on June 4, with a feature the following week on Houston’s one-year out from the World Cup celebration.
