These are challenging times for professional athletes like all.
The daily ritual of training, being able to look forward to your next game, is the lifeblood, the connection.
Athletes are pushing out a lot of social media content these days. Some of it self-indulgent and other pieces that have more redeeming value and concern.
Athletes have done remarkable things and others seem just oblivious, looking to make an entry into the world of social media without integrity [See Kyle Walker of Manchester City].
For me, one statement from one player, Carlos Tevez of Boca Juniors struck a chord.
I want to hear more of this and less home gym photos. #CarlosTevez #SoccerMatters pic.twitter.com/ry6mejAVgf

Here was Tevez not showing a video of him training in his home gym, or a shot of his abs to let us know he is doing #work.
No, this was the former Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus and Argentina striker cutting right to the core and putting the life of a footballer in perspective during this COVID-19 crisis.
For me, this was refreshing from Carlos. He framed his statement in the context of all, of those struggling. He speaks from a hard earned place of privilege but with awareness. Awareness in a time where people are taking the brunt of COVID-19 in a personal way.
Maybe it is a time for some athletes to not serve their self interest, maybe not serve their sponsors, not remind us of how hard they working but maybe remind us they are human, aware, concerned and have perspective.
Thank you Carlos.
